PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This art project presented by AstroSankofa Arts Initiatives is a collaborative venture initiated by Principle Steven Alderton and Vice-Principal Skye Bowen to use art to enriched the school environment, help establish the school as a cultural community hub and most importantly to celebrate the Honourable Jean Augustine amidst her 85th jubilee life celebration. The work centers around the principles of S.A.I.L. through the lens of Afrofuturism and Indigenous futurity while connecting to other concepts relating to alchemy, and First Nations Indigenous world views. Every aspect of the project is meant to encourage onlookers to “Dream to serve, advocate, innovate and lead to make the world a better place.
