ABOUT THE WORKSHOP PROGRAM
BECOMING VISUAL GRIOTS - PIECING TOGETHER YOUR FUTURE STORY
For this multi-day workshop participants will be introduced to the concepts of Afrofuturism, digital compositing, and storytelling through digital visual mediums. By engaging in hands-on activities and utilizing various digital tools, students will have the opportunity to create their own futuristic worlds and narratives.
OBJECTIVE
The workshop's main objectives are as follows:

Familiarize students with the principles and significance of Afrofuturism as a genre that combines elements of African culture, science fiction, and technology.

Introduce students to the concept of digital visual storytelling and its role in conveying narratives and ideas.

Provide students with practical knowledge and skills in digital compositing in 2D and 3D, a technique used by industry-leading companies such as Marvel Studios and Ubisoft Games to develop immersive futuristic environments.

Cultivate creativity and critical thinking abilities by encouraging participants to explore visual metaphors and express their ideas through digital collage-making.
